It' s been a while since I've updated..been a tad busy, so figure I'd update with everything thats been going on....how do i suddenly have the time.....well, i shall explain.

Since my last update, I've photographed an amazing wedding, my first Maxxis MXGB at Duns, a Burlesque night for the delightful Dixie's Dollhouse at "As You Like It" in jesmond (did i like it...oh yes i did), I've photographed numerous club events and practice days with some beauty results, sorted a new lovely shiny floor for my studio and found a van.....here, i explain, is how i have the time.

After months of looking, I finally found myself a little peach of a van, which unfortunately is in Newport, Wales. Now I have nothing against Newport in Wales except for its geographical location which is unfortunately...Frickin miles away!!! So, easy jet was booked to bristol, little train hop, pick up van...bomb back home..sweet. oh shouldn't type the word bomb, i'm in the airport.

Anyway, my lovely wife dragged us both up at 5am, this morning so that i would be ontime for my 7:30 flight to Bristol, which unfortunately has been delayed.. AN EASYJET FLIGHT DELAYED you say in suprise, they're usually cancelled. So now, i figured, I'd update my blog,... £1 for 10 mins internet..NIGHTMARE!

AGGHH Don't waste my seconds telling me theres 2 mins left..

Maxxis MXGB Round 2 - Duns

Well...I finally got my first media pass...which came with a free green jacket with 'MEDIA' written on the back. (i felt so powerful haha).

Round 3 of the ACU Maxxis British MX kicked off earlier today with some great racing from all MX1, MX2 and support riders to make my first pro event a very good one indeed.

Current Champ and 'Local' boy (1.5 hr drive local) Brad Anderson #1 raced an absolute stormer in the 3rd race of the day riding on the very limit to crawl back after a bad start to finish 3rd behind Stephn Sword #71 , but even with a win in the first race could only manage 3rd over all behind Swordy and Bobryshev #777 finishing 1st.

The Rose At Rowley

The weekend just gone saw Whiterose Motorcross Club back at Rowley. Unlike NEMXC a couple of weeks before, the track had dried out nicely with a few ruts and braking bumps keeping the riders on their toes.

No luck on the bike front from both Ash Harland (#292) and Barry Turnbull (#252)saw them dipping in and out of races for various reasons, with Ash admitting defeat and missing the last heat where Turnbull finally got it sorted winning by nearly 40 seconds.

Overall experts winner Michael Ogden riding #23 took the opportunity to close in on Harland in the overall championship.

WRMXC hit Finningley

WRMXC made the trip down to Doncaster Motor Park at Finningley. Top awards from the track stewards who had it in tip top condition, despite apparently needing 100 tonnes more sand which would make it rival Normandy beach...but still, excellent days racing.

Whiterose move to Rowley, Co Durham this weekend.

Had an hour spare the other day so took my two little mini-me's down to the studio to pick some stuff up and thought, while we're here, might aswell take some pics.

So after Charlie had ran into the spotty and Had knocked over a can of coke, we snapped a few and left before any serious damage was done.

Its all about the light....

Well...a bit gutted as the aforementioned motorcross was abandoned due to poo weather... which however, may have turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

In the last 48 hours i've spent nearly 10 hours on the train, see Newcastle go 1 match closer to championship glory and to top it off had a 1-2-1 session with an awesome photographer and photographed an FHM high street honey..... can a man complain about that!!!!!!

A quick hop in the MOTO MAGAZINE van and quick thinking change of plan by Adam saw us back at his studio covering the wonders of lighting. My brain now hurts trying to understand the inverted square carry on and other delights, but I did manage to get some great pics, partly due to some good lighting instruction from Adam and the amazingly lovely poses of Katie Green, who, aswell as being a really really lovely woman all round, knows all about Nikon's (esp colour management haha).

Well, I'm currently on a train destined (eventually) for Newmarket. Tomorrow see's me in the rather tasty jump covered track of Mildenhall for a days photo training with Adam Duckworth form Factory Media and other such delights.

Hopefully, weather permitting we'll get some nice motorcross pics in and I'll come back a better informed man with regards to MX Photography.

Looking out of the window, I have to be honest and say, I wish I'd remembered my waterproof jacket :(

NEMXC hits Rowley!

YEY..the MX season has finally, after few weather hitches, kicked off again.

I unfortunately missed Round 1 for NEMXC due to a bit of last minute relocation, but Round 2 saw a slightly sludgy few corners on a relatively lively track at Rowley, Co Durham last Sunday.

Thanks to some technical mayhem of corrupted memory cards and some auto focus malfunctioning, I lost a few images, but still managed to salvage a few hundred from the day.

Here's a few bits of the action.

(first bend or 'the hole' took a few victims)

Quickie today as I'm sorting out the pics from the last few days of dance shows (final night tonight).

Drove to the studio this morning with the windows down and sunglasses on. Am I in LA? no...dreaming?..No.... is it finally summer?...NO! 8 Degree, 8 degrees was all it took to leave the coat at home, don the sunglasses and roll down the windows.

The plus side...local MX trac, PJMX (Maverick Moto Parc) reopens next Sunday..GOOAL!

Well...I've been a bit manic lately, this weekend sees the MX start again, YEY and also a totally contrasting topic of dance shows. Thursday, Friday, 2 shows saturday and sunday (sunday following a days MX at Rowley) may see me sleep in monday morning, so maybe another letter about dropping Charlie off late at school will be coming my way ...OOOPS.

Anyway, couple of snaps from yesterdays show..there will be more to follow but i have to check as some of it involved minors and rules being rules...i gotta be careful.

Newbiggin, Scones.....and Monkey Bread!!!

Well...of all the things I thought I'd be doing on a Tuesday afternoon, photographing scones, wasn't one of them, but hey ho.

Yesterday saw Nevin's Nibbles/Nevin's Of Northumberland break the world record for the biggest scone menu with over 110 different varieties...my new favourite being 'Nevin's Little Poppet'.

Sculpture Snapping...

As you may know or indeed may not, my studio/room is inside the Newbiggin Arts Centre, Newbiggin by the sea... lately there's been some work on display by Tony Murray, who produces some unbelievable work using allsorts of stuff from string to some kind of wierd shiney paper...and tonnes of glue.

The painting on the wall of the dancers was actually used as a template for a free standing sculpture destined for Dance City, Newcastle. Once the sculpture itself was finished, Tony was kind enough to leave his work behind (probably not wanting to chip a wall away).

The free standing sculptures are currently on display in the upper floor of the main arts centre building, access here is a little trickier and it maybe worth while calling the arts centre on 01670 851833 or emailling enquiries@newbigginartsforum.org before you set off to see them.

Hope you enjoy the photos, but they don't do the sculptures real justice, the best way to see them is up close and personal, so get yourselves down.

Yup... -9 temperatures saw the Wansbeck freeze like a good old fashioned thing that freezes!! 8:30 am found me trying to decide if i was stood on the river bank or the frozen river, so after snappin a few shots, I figured it was safer to retreat to guaranteed solid ground.

FINALLY... we get some snow!! My landscape photography needs a polish up and snow scenes are always a winner. I wasn't quite expecting the amount of snow we got the other day, but it made everything look rather nice. It was suprising as being on the coast we normally only get a little smatter of the white stuff.

Here's a little view of Woodhorn church in it's new white blanket on New Years Day and also the memorial park in the centre of Newbiggin-By-The-Sea.

Well following on in a way from my last picture post,its a welcome back to the 2nd battalion the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. They were welcomed back with rapturous applause when marching through the Northumberland towns of Ashington and Morpeth, on December the 8th.

The Infantry battalion returned from a hard fought tour in Afghanistan and aswell as members of the public, Northumberlands Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Alan Shearer was among the crowd to cheer them on.

Enjoy.... and a quick thought for the Men and women who unfortunately won't be able to share a bit Turkey and wine with their families this christmas.

for those who may or may not know, I'm a current serving member of the TA and Ex-regular soldier, so like most military men and women, the beginning of November is very close to home as its the general time of Rememberence for those fallen, yet not forgotten.

Are our fighting men and women heroes, or just ordinary people doing extraordinary things..... rememberence shouldn't just be for those that have fallen but an opportunity sit and look at what our guys do and what they give up to do it.

Well, i've been busy lately and with twitter, facebook and my own website, i've been struggling to keep ontop of my blog, so thought I'd best scribble something down.

Had a greatly bizarre shoot yesterday with some of the Go Wansbeck guys which went very well, hopefully see some of my work on the cover of a book which would be pretty awesome.

I've managed to land a follow up article in the local business magazine tracking how I'm getting on which is also pretty good, they've also asked me to do the cover photo aswell, which is local themed. Its hard to try and take pictures of specific yet non specific things as I've been discovering.

Oohhh also tried some night sky photography for the first time in aaaaagggges... will post my results soon, not very exciting though, trying to find somewhere properly dark is really difficult without driving out into the sticks.

Anyway...enough from me...speak soon

Well, i've been a bit manic lately, so expect a few posts in the next day or so. Saturday saw my sister in laws wedding...pics to follow...Sunday saw me at my first MX competition which was pretty amazing...pics and post to follow... and finally, Last night I got a last minute call to cover a comedy gig for Punchdrunk comedy (www.punchdrunkcomedy.co.uk ) in Cramlington. The lineup included, Chris Ramsay as compere who was tremendous, A couple of noobs, Kai Humphries the organiser and last but by no means least, the very funny, yet a little bit wierd..Seymour Mase.

Well, my portfolio is ever expanding. Saturday night saw my debut at fight night for Hybrid Kick Boxings, 'No retreat, No Surrender 6'. Well organised night with a very comical compere who seemed to struggle with names a little bit. A few technical issues, mainly my speedlite trying to roast batteries to boiling point meant pictures were a few pictures had to be binned, but still managed to get a good feel for the night caught on film.. Early bird..

Thought I'd treat myself to an early start the other day, so the alarm went off and I was in the car by 06:30, camera bag in tow and off to the beach. The sea first thing in the morning is amazing, it's so quiet and noisy at the same time.

Anyway, the local beach at Blyth has seen a bit of investment in the last year or so with the introduction of a new prom type affair and some rather snazzy looking beach huts.

So my studio is now working, and apart from the odd final little piece is totally usable. Its been a little bit of a slog but now its there. So with Motorcross well underway and weddings getting a bit of praise, I can now work open up to a little studio photography.

If anyone remembers the original pictures of the studio in its past life as a community centre IT room, its now looking slightly different.

I've been working with local artist Stephen Williamson to produce some prints of some of the great work he's done. He specialises in portraits and landscapes using acrylics and recently decided to turn hobby into some income.

Working with Stephen, I've been photographing and reprinting many works including, Warkworth, Alnmouth, Bambrough and of course our own little bay of Newbiggin.

You can find Stephen's work on show at the Newbiggin Arts Centre every Saturday between 10am & 4pm. (Sat Navvies punch in NE64 6PY).

Here's a new line of pictures I never thought i'd find myself in, but it appears that Nail Art and competitions are taken very very seriously. I would have posted these pics sooner but as its so competitive I had to wait until the contest in Jesmond was over.

Debbie came 2nd over all for her Egyptian theme which was part of the larger category of hot summer, and although they never placed (bit of shifty judging apparently haha) I still quite like them, and so does she which is the main thing... Anyway, here's some fine nail art for you to admire.

The smell of varnish has finally gone from my studio, nail technicians always smile like that, because they're high!!!

Zombie Nation

Yup, Sunday 12th July saw Manchester city centre over run with the undead in an attempt to break the world record for the most zombies in one place..... unfortunately, the official headcount was 160 short of the 1200 and odd target. However, the police headcount put the undead numbers over 1500, which would have smashed the record but some people just came along for the fun and forgot to register.

October see's another attempt to break the record currently held by Nottingham.

Anyway, here's come pics of the gruesome event, hope you enjoy them. Big thanks to Carl Whiteley the organiser who did a great job and also invited me down to be his photographer and a big shout to my mate Andy who let me stay at his house to save a few sheckles.

Well, my funding applications gone in, so fingers crossed a new set of lenses and a smart shiney D700 are heading my way soon.

Thanks to a bit of work and cash from myself and a few helping hands, my studio is well on its way to being usable, just some flooring required (roll on the bank holiday sales).

Back at the MX track this weekend to see whats happening and see if the guys liked the pics from last week.

I've managed to get myself a full pager in the local business magazine aswell as supplying an image for the front cover, so things are well on the up.

A little update...

Well, Keith the plasterer is kindly coming to plaster the studio on Thursday & Friday then I have a few lovely days painting ahead of me. Unfortunately, due to me hurting my shoulder (rotator cuff injury apparently), don't be suprised if any of you get a phone call askin for help.

Anyway, seen as the studio is out of bounds for pictures unless you're wearing very little, I've been out and about with the old camera to snap some local scenery.

Well it's been a while since I've posted anything, so I thought I'd update you all a little.

Studio is now sorted....well aquired, hopefully be sorted soon, bit of stripping and a lick of paint should sort it out.

First spring day....

Well, this weekend seems to have been the first proper real showing of a promising summer. Saturday seemed to be the perfect day, sunshine and not a breath of wind. If i'd been floating in sea on my surfboard it would have been almost perfect. Instead I took myself for a bit of a wander and snapped a few pics.

I spotted the little angel in the grave yard on the way back to the car, it must only be about 8 inches high, but managed to be the most noticeable thing in the graveyard among the massive grave stones.

Well, I managed to prove to myself this evening that once again, I reeeeeeaaaaally need to get a slightly better lens for my sports photography, so its off to the shops.

Findus FC won the Shield tonight winning 2-0 in a reasonably warm(ish for March) night at longbenton sports field.

Anyway..here's a couple of action shots from the nights action.

Well.....it's done.

First major milestone is out of the road and I must say thank to Tania and Jimmy, it was all made alot easier than I expected.

I've never had so many nervous wee's in my entire life before I photographed the wedding on saturday just gone, but, was all worth while as I think the extra nerves helped me put in that little extra effort to make sure it all worked out.

I'll post some more pics once I've checked with the Bride and Groom that they're happy with my selection, so watch this space.

Can't not mention Charlie (not his real name) Drake for being my assistant for the day, cheers mate.

Slow and steady.....but I'll get there in the end.

Quickie update...

Well, things are kinda getting there, hopefully going to have my business plan all done and dusted within the next two weeks to allow me access to some funding, so if there is anyone reading, could you cross your fingers.

I'll hopefully be posting some really nice wedding pictures on here after Saturday aswell, so anyone not crossing their fingers....a sundance would be nice.

Quick update then....

Manage to sort myself out with someone pretty promising to do my business plan through Business link, thus opening the door to lots of funding hopefully. With regards to the rest of the stuff that's going on, watch this space for possible exciting, (well I think it's exciting) news.

Little bit of training this morning by way of children's portraits with Claire and James and not forgetting the star of the show, little Annabel. She was a little star, not so much as a peep all the way through, bless her little socks.

Anyway, here's a small selection of my favourites from the shoot.

Old stuff....

Hectic....

It's been a bit of a hectic week this week. Lots of paperwork stuff to be done with regards to this setting up a business carry on, but on the plus side, I've looked at my potential finances and all looks super smart so far and after a meeting this morning with my property man, I can rent space at half the price I planned by the looks, so WOOOO HOOO...fingers crossed.

Anyway, this is apparently a photography blog, so thought I'd best stick some pics up. I've become intrigued lately by old things and found these 2 little things in a big pile of soil I was helping someone move a couple of weeks ago. 'scuse the dodgy background, I took the picture on my kitchen table using the big window for lighting, but you can see they're super little gems. My dad probably still has so

me of this stuff kicking about in his shed.

Best disappear and remove the dregs of oil I took from the two tins from the glass on the window sill before Charlie thinks it's apple juice.

Sam, Harri, Will & Tom

Thanks to the Harri (Harriet), Sam, Tom & Will for making one of the first portrait shoots I've done this year very very easy. All 4 spent the whole time I was there making each other laugh and giggle away making pictures quite natural and relaxed.

Wasn't too happy when the slightest of breezes got a hold of my fil light and sent it crashing to the ground outside bending the handle of my little white umbrella, but that's a good lesson learned in making sure the stand is sturdy enough.

Was a little worried at one point when Tom was getting so carried away on the trampoline, I thought he was going to end up in next doors garden.. can you imagine his mum can't you..."Please Mr, can I have my son back?"

Anyway, here's a couple of pics from the shoot. Hope you like them.

It all seems like a good idea going into business for yourself until you get down to the nitty gritty of business plans and looking at how you're going to survive...after several hours of staring at a business plan, I'm not sure I'm any further forward..but my head hurts!

OK, so some of my picture story boards on here might arrive in a bit of a wonky order, but I need to double check people are ok with their pics (My pics) going online.

Here's Hannah and cheeky chops James looking all angelic. Thanks to Charlie my little 3 year old photographers assistant who helped make them smile by shouting out rude words from behind me.

I'm still not a fan of good old fashioned backdrops of marbley blue or plain old white, I much prefer something or somewhere to make up the back drop for a more natural picture. Anyway, was happy with the way these turned out...still not gonna be setting the fashion world alight anytime soon ...but I'm getting better.

It Starts......

In celebration of being made redundant and becoming a real time modern statistic, I thought I'd keep with the modern trend and set myself up a blog..everyones doing it, even my sister has one for her allotment..go figure. I don't know if that's because allotments are interesting or Mark has nothing else to do...who knows!

Anyway, as you may or may not know, I'm in the process off setting myself up in the Photography / Design business, so I thought I'd keep you updated on how I'm doing to see if I can make it in this big harsh world of everyone having no cash.

Thanks to everyone who's helped me so far and thanks to all those unsuspecting future customers yet to come...fingers crossed!
